MEET DEATH IN
AUTO ACCIDENT

(From the Victor Record)

Mrs. W.J. Elick and her daughter, Julie, of Mt. Ayr, former residents of the Guernsey neighborhood, met death in an auto accident Sunday while on their way to Brooklyn for a visit. Mrs. Elick was killed outright and her daughter lived only a few hours after the accident.

Their automobile, driven by W.J. Elick, collided with an automobile driven by Ray Nelson of Des Moines. The accident occurred on the Jefferson highway four miles north of Osceola. Miss Elick died in a Mt. Ayr hospital. Mr. Elick was slightly injured while Mr. Nelson escaped uninjured.

Mr. and Mrs. Elick and Julie were on their way from Mt. Ayr to visit in Brooklyn. Charles Elick, an attorney, lives in Des Moines at 1225 Seventh street.

Coroner H.E. Story announced on Sunday that there would not be an inquest.

The Elicks lived on a farm near Guernsey for several years, moving to Mt. Ayr about 12 years ago. The farm on which they lived was formerly occupied by Cleve Mohr and is now farmed by W.H. Schlesselman.
