National Contest WinnersJane Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Parker, 619 Harrison Avenue, was announced last week as a first prize winner in the national contest sponsored by the Joe Lowe Corporation, makers of Popsicle products.
The prize consisted of a one weeks expense paid vacation to a dude ranch near Tucson, Arizona, for Jane and her father. They were flown from Des Moines yesterday morning to Arizona to commence their vacation.
Jane, who will be nine years old next month and a fourth grade student at Davis school this year, has entered several other contests in the past. However, this is the first time she has been a winner.
The contest rules provided that each entrant must correctly match the names of several ranches along with the appropriate ranch brand. Then the contestants had to name an imaginary ranch and design a brand for their ranch name. Jane submitted several entries in the contest and has not been informed which entry was named the winner.
Jane is the only known winner in this area although the contest ran for ten weeks and 52 first prize winners were names.
