FIND A CRIPPLED
CARRIER PIGEON

President and Mrs. J.H. Main found a crippled carrier pigeon on their lawn Thursday morning. It had been shot in the wing. The little voyager of the air was picked up and is being given tender care. President and Mrs. Main have the identification number which was on a band about the bird's leg and will be glad to communicate with anyone seeking to locate a missing pigeon.

Last Friday the Herald contained a story about the finding of a crippled pigeon by President and Mrs. Main and further stated the fact that they were caring for the pigeon. The band on the pigeon bore the initials "R.I.P.C." and the Mains surmised that it might be a Rock Island carrier pigeon. They communicated with Agent Douglas who took the matter up with the authorities. He received a telegram Tuesday afternoon stating that the pigeon belonged to Achiel Desnet, 301 Seventh Ave., Rock Island, Ill., with the request that the pigeon be boxed and sent to his address.

The pigeon has been sent as requested. This pigeon was shot by some boys with an air rifle. These rifles are forbidden under the city ordinance just the same as any other rifle and this should be a sort of a warning to all boys to be very careful how they shoot at birds. In this case the boy who fired the rifle hit a tame and useful bird.
