HERMON LODGE TO HONOR DIMIT

Hermon Lodge No. 273, A.F. & A.M., will hold a reception honoring Charles H. (Spike) Dimit Sr. as Grand Treasurer of Masons in Iowa on Saturday evening, April 28.

Mr. Dimit is a well known and lifetime resident of Grinnell.

He attended the Grinnell public schools and two years at Grinnell College. After serving in World War I he entered the clothing business. From 1930 until 1937 he was employed by a major oil company and from 1937 until 1956 he was in the grocery business. After a short retirement he is now employed as shipping clerk for the Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. He has also been an active member of the American Legion and Elks lodge of Grinnell. He served a number of years on the Grinnell School Board and is a member of the Methodist church.

FAMILY

Mr. Dimit has three sons--Charles Dimit Jr., Dennis and Gerald, a daughter Donna Myers and eight grandchildren.

Spike has had a long and useful membership in Masonic organizations since he was initiated Sept. 29, 1943. He is a past master of Hermon Lodge, and also belongs to Palestine Chapter No. 143, R.H.M.; King Solomon Council No. 2, R. & S.M.; and Oriental Commandery No. 2, Knights Templar.

In 1957-64 Mr. Dimit served as Senior Grand Deacon and was elected Grand Treasurer, culminating a term of three years on the Grand Lodge finance committee.

Hermon Lodge will open at 5 p.m. for reception of Grand Master of Masons in Iowa, Charles C. Howard, and other present and past Grand Lodge officers. A dinner will be served at 6:30 for members and their wives, which will be followed by a program honoring Mr. Dimit April 28.
