GOLDEN WEDDING JUBILEE

Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Stickle celebrated their golden wedding on Tuesday evening, Aug. 20th. This was one of those very delightful occasions in which sincere greetings from old and esteemed friends were gladly offered.

Mr. and Mrs. Stickle were married in Brighton, Ontario, Aug. 20, 1851, and came to Grinnell 34 years ago. To them, in this well-favored period of half a century have come five daughters, four of whom are living and doing well, while the fifth furnishes the bright attraction in the heavenly home.

Mr. Stickle is now considered one of the pioneers in Grinnell. He has been successful as a contractor, having built the first brick block in the city, and is regarded as one of our most respected citizens.

He has rescently build a fine home, modern and beautiful, on Elm street--the sixth residence he has built for himself--and now occupies it with his wife and two daughters--Miss Ella, who is a successful music teacher, and Miss Edith, the competent book-keeper for Bailey & Rinefort.

To this golden wedding anniversary came over a hundred invited guests, composed mainly of old neighbors and intimate friends. The evening was spent delightfully. Happy faces and genial spirits, beautiful rooms tastefully decorated in yellow, white and green, these with the delicious refreshments made an evening easily remembered for its cheer and friendliness.

Elegant presents were left as souvenirs of the happy event, and will be perpetual reminders of a sincere appreciation and love for more precious that even the gold of which they were wrought.

The friends of Mr. and Mrs. Stickle offer sincere congratulations, with hopes for a kind Father to spare them for a diamond jubilee twenty-five years hence.
