The Grinnell (IA) Herald; Dec. 2, 1892

CHESTER

The home of Mr. J.W. Sherman was the scene of a most delightful gathering Wednesday evening last to witness the marriage of Miss Lulu A. Sherman and Mr. George F. Thompson. After an informal reception in which the bride and groom took part the company were assembled in the parlor, where the impressive ceremony was held by which the two were made one, Rev. J.J. Mitchell officiating. Congratulations were warmly offered by the large circle of friends and relatives present. The dress of the bride was simple but elegant, cream-tinted and granished with flowers. The groom wore the conventional black. As both have spent most of their lives in Chester, the interest of the community will go with them in unusual measure. A large number of presents beautiful in both quality and variety were suggestive of the kind regards of many. The guests present from abroad were: Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Moninger, Galvin, Iowa; Miss Susie Meacham, Clay, Iowa; Miss May Look, Harvey, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sherman, Bloomfield, Neb.; Mr. F.A. Wheelock, Armour, S.D.; from Grinnell were Mr. and Mrs. H.T. Wheelock, Mrs. Newton Sherman and Miss Mary Sherman. We are glad to know that the home of these newly married friends will continue to be in Chester.
