Sunday, February 15, 1925, will be long remembered by the people assembled at the residence of Mrs. Mary G. Royce, 500 Broad Street the occasion being the birthday of L. Howard Nutting of Davenport, Iowa, a brother of Mrs. Royce. It was a genuine surprise party and they came with baskets laden with eats, the best that could be prepared by expert chefs from the fertile fields, the bountiful orchards and carefully cultivated gardens of old Poweshiek. Those present besides those already mentioned were: Miss Hattie Burch of Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. Amory Burch, Mrs. Maggie Burch, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Sevenbergen and son, Bobbie, Miss Elvera Otcheck, Miss Ora Burch, and Messrs. Harley and Ellsworth Burch, and Elmer Royce. A score or more of the relatives and friends called during the afternoon and evening. Mr. Nutting will be remembered here by many of the old boys and girls who were his friends during the seventies and eighties.
