The Montezuma Weekly Republican; July 29, 1903

--First it circulated as a vague rumor and a little later as a sad reality that one of our businessmen, livery man Jas. Smith made his disappearance Saturday evening in compnay with another man's wife, Mrs. George Tilson, who lived on a farm of Smith's, a little ways out in the country. Then again to cap it all Joe Fultz closed up the livery stable, on account of a mortgage he held against Mr. Smith. The citizens look for Mr. Smith to return right side up with care, in a short time, but we cannot for the life of us see what a man wants with more than one woman.
