MURDER AT MALCOM

Cutting Affray in Which One is Killed.

The Hinegardners got on a tear on Christmas day, and went to the house of a man named Lundy, in Malcom. The door was kicked in and some altercations caused in which the Hinegrdners used razors badly cutting the old gentleman and his son. Both injured parties were so badly cut as to nearly bleed to death. One of the Hinegardners was arrested the same night, but escaped. John Hinegardner was arrested the next morning and is now boarding with Sheriff Binegar. Dave Hinegardner, who recently returned from a forced stay at Fort Madison, was one of the cutting party. He and one brother have succeeded since Monday in eluding the officers.--Grinnell Herald.

Later reports have reached this office that the elder Lundy had succumbed to the wounds which he received in the melee. As to whether the two parties who succeeded in escaping have been apprehended we are not able to state.
