BROOKLYN GIRL WEDS MALCOM MAN
Miss Roberta Mae Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Jones of Brooklyn and John L. Hand, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hand of Malcom, were married in Tama on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic church, with Father Fegler(Jegeler)? officiating at the double ring ceremony.
The wedding group stood before an arch of gladioli and fern with bouquets of glads and larkspur on either side. Teresa Han?elka was at the organ during the ceremony.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. The bodice of her wedding gown was of French lace over satin, with tapered sleeves. The skirt was made of three tiers of nylon net, edged with lace over satin.
Miss Ann McNally of Grinnell was maid of honor and wore pink net over taffeta and carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white carnations.
The bridesmaid was Miss Donna Arvidson of Brooklyn, who was dressed in pink net over taffeta and carried a pink and white carnation colonial bouquet.
Floyd W. Hand of Brooklyn and Franklyn Hand of Tama attended the groom.
The ushers were Robert Cram of Brooklyn and La Vern Hand of Malcom.
Mrs. Jones chose for her daughter's wedding, a cerise rayon faille dress with black and white accessories. The groom's mother wore blue crepe.
A reception followed the ceremony at Community Hall in Toledo, with 200 attending. A dinner was held in the home of the bride's parents for 50 relatives and close friends.
For the wedding trip to the southern states, the bride chose a light lavender wool frock. Upon their return, the couple will reside on the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Jones in Madison township.
The bride graduated from Brooklyn high school and was a student at McPherson college in McPherson, Kan. for one year. She is employed at the Poweshiek County Nat'l Bank.
The groom, a graduate of Tama high school, attended the University of Iowa for one year, and was in the Air Force for two years. He is engaged in farming.
Out-of-town guests at the wedding were from: Sutherland, Toledo, Gilman, Chelsea, Brooklyn, Malcom, Hartwick, Victor, Montezuma and Barnes City.
