BOB MARVIN IS ARRESTED; AWOL FROM THE ARMY

Bob Marvin, wanted for over-staying his leave from the United States army was picked up by Deputy Sheriff Bill Welsh, assisted by Grinnell police, in a car on the streets of Grinnell on the evening of Jan. 13. He was accompanied by Mrs. Esther Marvin, wife of Marvin's brother, who is a marine now in Guadacanal. Marvin was turned over to the army authorities at Fort Des Moines a couple of days ago.

Marvin has quite a police record. In 1939 he broke jail in Montezuma, where he was serving a 60 day sentence for a minor offense, stole a car and was finally apprehended in Jamestown, Tenn. As a result of that escapade he was sentenced to a term in the state reformatory at Anamosa, from which he was paroled in 1942, shortly thereafter getting into the army.
