WEDDING BELLS DID NOT RING FOR THEM

Claude Carter, Grinnell boy now on the road for the Maytag Washing Machine Co., of Newton, has not gotten over his fondness for practical jokes as evidenced by the following, clipped from a Hutchinson , Kansas, newspaper:

F. Claude Carter of Grinnell, Ia., and Cleo Teter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.J. Teter, 106 Fifth ave. west were granted a marriage license late Saturday by Probate Judge Seward Baker but it developed today when the permit to wed was returned that it was all a joke. The young couple made the application after friends had dared them.

"Why did you do it," Miss Teter was aked this morning.

"Oh, I don't know," she replied. "Girls will be girls you know."
