TRIPLETT-HICKEY

H.L. Triplett has received newspaper clippings from California giving the first particulars which have been received of the wedding of his daughter, Clara, who married on Thanksgiving Eve to Howard Hickey of near Santa Barbara. The account was written before the wedding took place but contains many details which will interest Grinnell friends. It is as follows:

"A wedding will be celebrated in Santa Barbara this evening which will be of great interest to friends here and in Grinnell, Iowa, of the bride-elect, Miss Clara Triplett, sister of Mrs. J.W. Barton, who during her visit here last summer made firm and ardent admirers of all who had the pleasure of meeting her. The fortunate young man is Howard Hickey, a prosperous stock rancher a few miles from Santa Barbara."

"This happy romance began when the winsome young lady visited her sister, Mrs. Miles Lane, in Santa Barbara while spending six months in that city and San Bernardino last year. In May she returned to her home in Grinnell, Iowa, but it did not take many months to convince Miss Triplett that the call of Califronia and the persuasive powers of the young man were not to be put aside and her arrival here Monday marked the first part of her journey."

"The wedding will be quietly celebrated this evening, the handsome bride-elect wearing an elegant, tailored suit of Russian green, with hat in the same shade."

"The wedding trip will be postponed until later, the trip across the continent having been sufficient traveling for the present, however a party of friends and relatives made her departure this afternoon from the station a matter of much merriment and fun by the plentiful decorations attached to her suit case. It was such a surprise that the bride-elect joined heartily in the fun of the hour."

A warm welcome awaits Mr. and Mrs. Hickey when they find it convenient to visit her relatives and friends here. Many good wishes will find their way to the new home near Santa Barbara following this announcement this morning."

The following clipping describes a shower in honor of the bride-elect:

"A large company of ladies met on the afternoon of December 3 at the home of Mrs. M.P. Lane of Hope district, for a shower, held in honor of her sister, Mrs. Howard Hickey, who became a bride on Thanksgiving eve. Mrs. Hickey was Miss Clara Triplett, of Grinnell, Iowa. The numerous gifts, useful and beautiful, were placed in a unique arrangement called 'the wishing well,' and removed when all had arrived, by Mrs. Hickey. The rooms were beautifully decorated with poinsettias and crimson geraniums."

"During the interval between viewing the gifts and refreshments which were served at 4 p.m., games were played. Those persent were:

"Mrs. H.L. Hickey, the bride; Mrs. C.C. Hickey, Mrs. L.A. Triplett, Mrs. A. Bronson, Mrs. Moller, Mrs. Dallas Lane, Mrs. Dexter Lane, Mrs. Jasper Lane, Mrs. M.P.
