Montezuma (IA) Republican; Feb. 10, 1897

A SAD CASE--The county authorities have been wrestling with an unfortunate case the last week. Sidney Hillman, of Lincoln township, accuses his wife of deserting her five children and he appealed to the county for homes for them. They range in age from four to fourteen, the oldest being a girl. She was accused of crookedness and Judge Ryan sent her to the industrial school for girls at Mitchellville. The mother came Saturday and took the youngest child. This leaves three to provide homes for. Mrs. Hillman claims that she left home because her husband refused to support her. He accuses her of infidelity. It is a sad case all around.
