BLANKENFELD-RIVERS

The social event of the season in Pleasant township occurred on Nov. 4, 1908, when about forty friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Blankenfeld to witness the marriage of their daughter Jennie E. to Mr. Arthur Clark Rivers. Promptly at 8 o'clock to the strains of a beautiful wedding march played by Miss Gertrude Rivers, sister of the groom, the happy couple took their places while the Rev. Eldridge spoke the words that united them for life. The bride was dressed in white silk with long bridal veil, while the groom wore the conventional black. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blankenfeld, a young lady of many charms and a universal favorite in her neighborhood and Mr. Rivers is to be congratulated in securing her for a life companion. Mr. Rivers is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Rivers and comes from one of the oldest and best respected families in the county, a young man of excellent habits, industrious and respected by his many friends. After congratulations the guests were led to the dining room where was served a bounteous wedding supper by the bride's two sisters and mother. The happy couple received many beautiful and costly presents and with those presented by the bride and groom's parents had enough to completely furnish the new home just completed for them. On Thursday evening the groom's parents gave a reception in honor of the happy couple at which about thirty-five guests were present. They will be at home to their friends about Dec. 1st, having decided to stay with the groom's parents until the rush of the farm work is over. The Republican joins with their many friends in wishing them a happy journey thru life.
