Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Sheline celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home at 1327 Prince St., Monday, having been married on Jan. 25, 1859. Their six living children were all present for the happy occasion, and together with some of the old friends of the family formed a merry company at the dinner hour. "Father" and "Mother" Sheline, as they are affectionately called, by all who know them, are hale and hearty after their long life and look back, not only to a half century of happy married life for themselves, but to a life filled with generous devotion and service for others. Of the children who were present all live in Grinnell, except D.M. Sheline and wife, who came from St. Joseph, Wis., and the eldest daughter from Kellerton in this state. A happy day was spent during which the love and respect of children and neighbors expressed itself in congratulations and many little gifts. It was an occasion of rare joy for all and we trust that Mr. and Mrs. Sheline may live many years to enjoy its happy memories.
