CHILD, J. & SON—Grinnell Twp—pg 891. Proprietors of livery and feed stable, Grinnell. This firm is composed of J. and A.W. Child. The former was born in Bath, New Hampshire, February 10, 1821, and was there raised and educated. He engaged in farming until the spring of 1868, when he came to this county, located at Grinnell, and commenced the livery business, which he has since followed. His marriage was in Bath, March 4, 1846, to Miss Martha H. Walker. They have four children: Chloe W., Aldace W., Arthur L. and Hattie M. Aldace W. Child, the junior member of this firm, was born in New Hampshire, January 11, 1852, where he was educated. At the age of sixteen years, he removed with his parents to this city, and is now engaged with his father in the livery business. He was married in New Hampshire, September 7, 1875, to Miss Alice B. Weeks. They have one child: Clinton C. (born July 4, 1876).
