George and Margaret were first cousins. They moved from Knox Co., IL, to Poweshiek Co., IA, in 1865, and bought a quarter-section of government land in Jefferson Twp. The village of Hartwick now occupies part of their home-place. They donated lots for the Hartwick Congregational Church and parsonage.
