Griswold American, Griswold, Iowa, Thurs., Jan 22, 1920, p.1
Obituary
Catherine Meyer was born near Eden, N. Y., October 23, 1848 and died at Mason City, Iowa on Sunday, January 18, 1920, aged 71 years, 2 months and 25 days. When a small child, her parents emigrated to Illinois and shortly thereafter to Elkader, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. She was married in 1873 to Charles R. Moulton, and to their union three children were born, the eldest of whom died in infancy. The two surviving children are Minnie, now Mrs. P. L. Arrasmith of this place and Marvin, who resided at Cortland, N. Y. In March 1881 the family moved to Griswold, Iowa where Mrs. Moulton has since made her home. Her husband died December 22, 1882. Last month she went to Owatonna, Minnesota to visit relatives but on the 11th instead was called to Mason City by the death of her sister, in whose home she passed away just a week later. She has been for many years a member of the M. E. Church at this place and in her more active years was one among the most earnest workers in the Ladies’ Aid Society. With the members of her family and her intimate friends, she was most considerate and she was never happier than when making some sacrifice for them. The remains arrived in Griswold, Tuesday morning, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Otto Hartman, a brother-in-law and sister of the deceased, of Mason City. Funeral services were held at the P. L. Arrasmith home at two p.m., Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Charles Mayne and Rev. C. A. Carlson. Burial was made beside deceased’s husband in the Griswold Cemetery.
