Alice Davis, daughter of Joseph and Eliza Davis, was born in Pottawattamie county, Ia., Jan. 23, 1873, and died at Glendale, Calif., Dec. 5, 1944, aged 71 years, 10 months and 12 days.

July 17, 1894, she was married to Fred Strong of Oakland, Ia. To this union one son was born.

After their marriage they attended Simpson college, later moving to Creston, where they lived a few years. They then moved to Council Bluffs, later moving to California, and then to Colorado, where Mr. Strong died Sept. 5, 1927. She then returned to California, where she lived until death.

In 1935 she was united in marriage to Peter V. Christiansen of Glendale, Calif. Her son, Fred died Feb. 25, 1943.

She is survived by her husband and two grandchildren, Richard and Elizabeth Strong; four stepchildren; four sisters, Mrs. M. H. Parks of Oakland, Mrs. Rose Butler of Canada, Mrs. Laura Lewis of Colorado, and Mrs. Catherine Pigg of California; several nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.

She was a member of the California Federation of Chaperral poets. Some of her works are to be found in American anthology. She became a member of the Oakland Methodist church at an early age and maintained her church activities throughout the years in the communities in which she lived.

Funeral services were held for her in the Little Church of the Flower in Glendale, Calif., with burial services at the Scott cemetery in Oakland, Ia., Dec. 21.
