Mrs. Frances Taylor was born 31 Dec 1890 in Fremont County, Iowa and died 6 Jun 1965 in Glenwood, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

“Glenwood--Services for Mrs. Frances Thornton Taylor, 74, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Peterson Funeral Home here.

She died Sunday at a local nursing home where she had resided for a year. She was formerly a resident of Gresham, Ore., but a native of the Thurman area.

Survivors include a son C. H. (Jack) Chambers of Glenwood, and five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Farragut Cemetery.”

“Mrs. Frances Taylor”

“Mrs. Frances Julia Thornton Taylor was born Dec. 31, 1890, near Thurman in Fremont county and died June 6 at Lakeview Manor nursing home in Glenwood at the age of 74.

She was one of nine children--six girls and three boys--who were born to Charles and Lewella Thornton, all of whom preceded her in death.

She was reared in the Thurman and Knox areas of Fremont county and attended the country schools and community church at Knox. In December, 1906, she was married to Clarence Otis Chambers at Omaha. They were the parents of two sons--Clarence (Jack) Chambers who was born Dec. 8, 1907, and William Charles Chambers who was born April 3 1910. William died in 1917.

She spent most of her life in Iowa but went to Oregon to care for her mother during a long period of illness. After the death of her mother she married Homer P. Taylor and they lived on a farm near Gresham, Ore., until his death June 16, 1964. Then she returned to Iowa to make her home with her son, Jack, in Glenwood.

In addition to her son, she is survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday afternoon from Peterson Mortuary with the Rev. Clyde Mosher officiating. Mrs. Dean Dusenberry was the organist.

Pallbearers were Harold Harless, Robert Harless, Mike Chambers, Charles Pevehouse, Robert Chambers and John Hockabout. Burial was in the Farragut cemetery.”
