LINDA HULTGREN

Linda Geneva (Beahm) Hultgren, 67, passed away July 13 at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg, Kan. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., July 18 in the Prairie View Reformed Church, Prairie View, Kan., with Rev. Jeff VanDer Weele and Pastor Scott Hultgren officiating.

Burial and graveside service followed at the Minden City Cemetery in Minden, Neb.

Linda was born in Holdrege, Neb., Aug. 7, 1943 to Merle and Mary (Norman) Beahm. She grew up in the Minden, Neb., community, graduating from Minden High School. She attended Brown Mackie Business School in Omaha for one year.

Nov. 26, 1961 she married Glen Hultgren in Minden. To this union four children were born: Laurie, Richard, Scott and Cynthia. Glen and Linda lived in Upland and Indianolo, Neb., and Phillipsburg, Kan., before moving to Prairie View, Kan., in the fall of 1972.

Linda worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for a number of businesses over the years. She also was a sales clerk at LuJon’s Department Store in Norton, Kan., and was a certified nurses aid in Logan and Phillipsburg, Kan. Linda also worked for the Northwest Kansas Area Library System in Norton running the Mobile Book Van.

Linda was a member of the Prairie View Reformed Church and served as church secretary and custodian for many years. She was also active in women’s circles and Bible studies. She was a member of Eastern Star. She had a great love of reading and was an avid supporter of the Prairie View Sunshine City Library, volunteering and serving on the library board.

Linda loved to travel and took numerous family vacations to Colorado. She loved the memories of her and Glen’s trip to the Bahamas and the trip she took with her father and mother-in-law, Charles and Cleo Hultgren to Branson, Mo., and Nashville, Tenn. Linda shared a love of country music with her husband and was able to attend many concerts with him. She also loved to cook and bake for her family and friends and she dearly loved her five grandchildren. She had been a resident at the Phillips County Retirement Center for the last six years.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Merle Beahm and brother-in-law, Jerry Nelson.

Survivors include her husband, Glen, of Prairie View; children, Laurie Hultgren of Yankton, S.D.; Richard Hultgren of Prairie View; Scott Hultgren, wife Holly and children Haley, Megan and Grant, all of Rapid City, S.D.; Cynthia (Hultgren) Hammitt, husband Kirk and children, Lonnie and Jade Larson, all of Logan; also her mother, Mary Beahm of Minden, Neb., and siblings, Merlin Beahm and wife, Lynette of Minden, Neb.; Bonnie Nelson of Axtell, Neb.; and Dr. Donald Beahm and wife, Renee’ of Ridge, N.Y.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice Services or the Alzheimer’s Association.
