Gloria M. Ruckman

The funeral for Gloria M. Ruckman, 69, of Council Bluffs will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Neola Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dean Sparr officiating.

Mrs. Ruckman died Aug. 10 at home, following a house fire.

She was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Bentley to John Scott Ryan and Erma. She previously lived in Neola and Underwood, moving to Council Bluffs in 1996. She was a 1951 graduate of Underwood High School. She formerly worked housekeeping at Underwood Post Office and Jennie Edmundson Hospital, retiring from Jennie Edmundson in 1984. She was a member of Neola Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school. She raised her brothers and sisters after their mother died.

Mrs. Ruckman was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Cotton.

Survivors include daughters, Peggy Cieslik and husband, Larry, of Bellevue, Neb., and Wanda Haston of Elkhorn, Neb.; son, Chuck P., and wife, Rhonda, of Council Bluffs; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Maggie Pearcy, and husband, Leland, of Council Bluffs; brothers, Patrick Ryan and wife, Judy, of Atlantic and Paul Ryan of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Burial will be in Neola Township Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at church.
