Kenneth Henry Schmidt age 71, Crescent, Iowa, passed away February 16, 2011, at his winter home in Queen Valley, Ariz.

Kenneth was born December 19, 1939, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Adolph and Fern Rodenburg Schmidt and graduated from BeeBeetown High in 1958. Kenneth worked on the family farm as a youngster and also was a body and fender man, construction worker and operated Schmidt Brothers Gas Station with brother Fred. Kenneth has been owner and operator of Henry’s Diner in Crescent since 1983. He served on the board at Quail Run Golf Course in Neola, a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Honey Creek and Optimist Club. He served in the Army Reserves.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Dale Howard Schmidt, who passed away in the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife Joyce of 34 years; children and spouses, Dale Schmidt (Sara), of Council Bluffs, Diane Schmidt (Tucker O’Hara), of Crescent, Tammy Meyer (Todd), of Honey Creek, Tracy Belk (Bob), of Omaha, Duane Goodhart (Terrena), of Underwood; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Fred Schmidt (Barb), of Missouri Valley, Gary Schmidt (Cherry), of Kansas City, Mo.

Visitation Monday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel.

Funeral services Tuesday 10:30 a.m., St. John Lutheran Church, Honey Creek. Pastor David Kuhnle, officiant.

Interment Grange Cemetery with a luncheon to follow back at church. Memorials to the family and St. John Lutheran Church.
