Harold F. Beddow, 89, of Council Bluffs died June 1 at home.

He was born Aug. 24, 1913, in Gladbrook to Roy and Josephine Fredrickson Beddow. He moved to Council Bluffs in 1962. He was a 1932 graduate of Gladbrook High School. He was an agent-operator for Milwaukee Railroad for 39 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Jaynes Street Church of God in Omaha, and a 50-plus year member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He served many years on the Jamaica School Board in Iowa.

Mr. Beddow and his wife, Gayle Allard Beddow, were married 65 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and son, Jan.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Sara Ray Beddow of Colorado Springs, Colo., Susan Kay Holly and husband, Clifton, and Julie Lee Smith, all of Council Bluffs; son, Joel Allard Beddow, and wife, Bonnie, of Crane Lake, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Barbara Beckwith and husband, Greg, Kim Holly Blair and husband, Tom, Becki Tomka and husband, Gerry, James Holly and wife, Kristin, Jeff Beddow and wife, Christy, Julie Klimek and husband, Mike, and Sara Smith.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Ross of Jaynes Street Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Jaynes Street Church of God in Omaha.
