Mary E. (Guinan) McConnell Fischer Aug. 19, 1914 - Aug. 28, 2006
Mary E. (Guinan) McConnell Fischer, age 92, of Neola, Iowa, passed away Aug. 28, 2006.
She was born in Woodbine, Iowa, Aug. 19, 1914, to William A. and Rose Ann (Foley) Guinan. She graduated from Neola Public School in 1932.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen C. Guinan; first husband, Samuel Arnum McConnell; second husband, Joseph H. Fischer; and daughter, Mary (McConnell) Milobar.
Mary was owner and operator of Farmers Cash Store in Neola for 35 years and later served as City Clerk in Neola. She and second husband, Joseph Fischer, owned and operated a grain and dairy farm for 20 years in Neola.
She is a member of St. Patricks Church in Neola and is survived by daughter, Sharon A. McConnell of Omaha, Neb.; cousins, Francis Guinan of Council Bluffs, Frank Guinan of Missouri Valley, Iowa; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family, Wednesday, 5 to 7 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Prayer Service, Thursday, 6 p.m., at St. Patricks Church, Neola.
Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, 10:30 a.m., also at the church.
Interment in Neola, Iowa Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Patricks Church or Neola Fire and Rescue. Luncheon will be served in the church following committal.
