Donald A. Duschanek, age 87, passed away Thursday October 7, 2010, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

Donald was born in Persia, Iowa, on December 5, 1922, to Ernest and Hiermieney Leder Duschanek. He was united in marriage to Marjorie on January 16, 1947.

Don worked for Omaha Steel Casting for over 35 years in machine maintenance and at Iowa Western Community College for over 25 years in the Custodial Department. He was an avid Chicago Cub fan and a member of Local 553.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James; grandson, Bradley Raymond; son-in-law, Randy Ernst; sister, Maudita Duschanek; brothers, Ervin, Aloise and Frankie Duschanek.

Survivors include wife Marjorie of 63 years; daughters, Maribeth Ernst, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Gayle Goldapp and Roy Bunch; sons, John and Jan, Joe, Tom and Diane, all of Council Bluffs; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Helen Shaw, of Winona, Minn.

Visitation with family, Sunday 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, 10:30 a.m., St. Peters Church. Father Chuck Kottas, celebrant.

Interment St. Patricks Cemetery, Neola, with a luncheon to follow at St. Patrick’s Hall Neola. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association.
