Della M. Welbourn Petersen

Della M. Welbourn Petersen, age 90, of Council Bluffs, passed away September 21, 2010, at Regency Rehab and Nursing Home.

She was born March 20, 1920, in Tabor, Iowa, to the late Roy O. and Elizabeth M. (Asman) Grosse. She and her late husband Paul Welbourn owned and operated Welbourn Hotel and Restaurant in Neola, Iowa, for 30 years retiring in 1979. Della was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and Neola, Iowa American Legion Post #330 Ladies Auxiliary.

Della was preceded in death by husbands, Paul Welbourn, in 1970, and Elmer Petersen, in 1996; sisters, Dorothy Cox and Joan Stewart; brothers, Delbert and Tom Grosse.

She is survived by her sister, Jan Neyland, of Renton, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Helen Grosse and Maxine Grosse,both of Council Bluffs; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family, Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Saturday, 11a.m., at the mortuary with Rev. Greg Carlson, Pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church and Rev. Richard Skelley officiating.

Interment Memorial Park Cemetery with a lunch following at Bethany Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be offered to the church.
