The funeral for Adolph Elmer "Poopy" Rodenburg, 78, of McClelland will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Congregational Church in Treynor with the Rev. Alan Hardy officiating.

Mr. Rodenburg died May 6 at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.

He was born Jan. 14, 1925, in McClelland to Herman and Anna (Engel) Rodenburg. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farmer his entire life and worked at St. Albert High School in maintenance and drove the school bus for 17 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Zion Congregational Church in Treynor, Lamar Hartje American Legion Post in Treynor, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 737 and South Omaha Eagles Club No. 154.

Mr. Rodenburg and his wife, Dorothy (Nowicki), were married 45 years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane, and his parents.

Survivors in addition to his wife include daughter, Kathleen Dolphin, and husband, Dan, of Melissa, Texas; son, David Rodenburg, and wife, Pam, of Council Bluffs; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Donald Rodenburg, of Underwood; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Zion Congregational Cemetery with military rites conducted by Lamar Hartje American Legion Post of Treynor, with a lunch following at the church.

Memorials may be offered to Visting Nurse Association in Council Bluffs, Treynor American Legion or St. Albert Schools.
