James “Jim” Ray Armstrong, 67, passed away Aug. 1 in Logan.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Aug. 5 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Logan with Father Mike Berner as Celebrant. Song leaders were Becky Loftus, Kim Armstrong, Kim Mann and Kris Michael. Selections were, “Amazing Grace,” “Oh, Shenandoah” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”

Honorary casket bearers were Stephanie Canoyer, Spencer Brewer, Jairin Potter, Blake Warnke, Payton Armstrong, Dallas Canoyer, Kyndel Brewer, Anthony Brewer, Samantha Brewer, Jaice Johnsen, Kaelin Armstrong, TJ Armstrong, Jordan Armstrong, Kinsley Canoyer, Kyle Canoyer.

Casket bearers were Don Ryan, Gail Oviatt, Warren “Green” Littrell, Jeff Potts, Kenny Stock and Chris Collins.

Final resting place was the Greenwood Cemetery near Logan. Military honors were conducted by the VFW Post 6256 and O’Hara Seeley Post.

Jim was born July 18, 1943 in Ft. Worth, Texas and entered into eternal rest with his family at his side at his home in Logan. He was born to George and Helen Armstrong. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He retired from Metropolitan Utilities District in 2005 after 38 years of employment. Jim loved life – he had an unforgettable smile and loved to laugh. He will forever be known by his many nicknames: “Big Duck,” “The Toad Hunter,” “The Lawnmower Man,” “The Cupcake Man,” “The Hubcap Man” and “The Snake Man.” He was a kid at heart and you could always count on him to make you laugh.

He loved to golf and was a three-time member of the Hole-in-One Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, competing and having fun. He loved traveling with his wife and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Armstrong; brother, Gary Armstrong and his father and mother-in-law, Harvey and Marjorie Hale and nephew Colin Armstrong.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Carol (Hale); children, Jamie (James) Tucker, Westmoreland, Tenn.; Heather (Nick) Johnsen, Logan; John (Kim) Armstrong, Woodbine; Mark (Kim) Armstrong, Logan; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; father, George Armstrong, Bellevue, Neb.; brothers, Rick Armstrong and Bill (Pat) Armstrong, both of Bellevue, Neb.; sisters, Pat (Ed) McIntosh, Neola; Mickey (Jim) Gilbert, Fort Worth, Texas; Sandy (Tom) Tucker, Kearney, Neb.; Mary Armstrong, Bellevue, Neb.; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
