Gertrude C. Hamsa

Gertrude Catherine Hamsa, 74, of Omaha died April 27 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha.

She was born in West Point, Neb. She was a restaurant owner and cook at Reynolds Diner in Council Bluffs for seven years.

Mrs. Hamsa was preceded in death by her husband, Lumir, on March 10, 1989. She was also preceded in death by son Steven and two grandsons.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Richardson of Nampa, Idaho, Cindy Mullaney of Omaha and Donnette Giza of Council Bluffs; son, Lumir "J.R." Hamsa, of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Lena Mae Schritter and Joan Montgomery; two brothers, Norbert Stratman and Verdell Stratman; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church with the Rev. Dan Kirby officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
