Frances M. Hopkins

Frances M. Hopkins, 94, of Council Bluffs died Oct. 25 at Hospice House in Omaha of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 21, 1907, in Portsmouth to William and Angela (Herkenrath) Thomas. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Neola in 1926 and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1930. She was a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital and also worked as a private duty nurse and homemaker. She lived in Council Bluffs most of her life.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, its Altar & Rosary Society and pinochle club.
Mrs. Hopkins was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, in 1992.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Tierney of Council Bluffs and Jeanette Johnson and husband, Donald, of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A wake service will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. at Belford O'Neill Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Gross, pastor, officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Burial will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Neola
