Florence Higginbotham

The funeral for Florence R. Higginbotham, 88, of Council Bluffs will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Valley View Baptist Church, 130 Bennett Ave., with the Rev. James L. Collingsworth officiating.

Mrs. Higginbotham died March 22 at home.

She was born March 28, 1914, in Weir City, Kan., to Hiram Stephens and Mary Alice Guisinger. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1931. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Valley View Baptist Church and its What I Can Society, as well as many prayer groups.

Mrs. Higginbotham was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh, in 1987; a son, Frank; and grandson, Robert B. Ludwig.

Survivors include daughter, Jackie Ludwig, of Omaha; grandchildren and spouses, Cindy Sullivan and Ron of Omaha, Treasure Lynn Nunes and Ronald, of Merced, Calif.; Sheryl Hamilton and Kenneth, of Hanover, Ind., Mischelle Schaffner and James, of Denver, Colo., Randy Higginbotham and Vicky, of Council Bluffs, Michael Higginbotham and Tracy, of Malvern, Jan and Dennis Willey of Council Bluffs, Mark Higginbotham and Teresa, of Neola, Gabrielle Garrean and Michael, of Council Bluffs, Glennay Landals of Omaha, Martin Higginbotham and Jessica, of Council Bluffs, Geanine Higginbotham of Council Bluffs; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the church.

Memorials may be offered to Valley View Baptist Church.
