The funeral for Phyllis K. Thompson, 81, of Council Bluffs will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with Elder Tom Arnold of Community of Christ Church officiating.
Mrs. Thompson died March 15 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.
She was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Underwood to Walter and Kristine (Knudsen) Rasmussen. She was a 1940 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. She attended Graceland College for one year. She worked for the City of Council Bluffs before moving to Washington, D.C., where she was a secretary in the office of Inter-American Affairs for Nelson Rockerfeller. She and her husband lived in Denver, Colo., Ames and Sioux City before moving to Council Bluffs in 1969, where she worked for the Council Bluffs School System as a secretary in the Audio Visual Resource Center for 10 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Community of Christ Church.
Mrs. Thompson and her husband, Raymond, were married May 20, 1945, in Council Bluffs. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca, in 1947.
Survivors in addition to her husband include one daughter, Kristine Thompson, and husband, Brian Merchant, of St. Paul, Minn.; one son, John, and wife, Kimberly, of Minneapolis; one granddaughter, Rebecca Hollowell, of Bozeman, Mont.; one great-granddaughter, Jasmine Hollowell, of Bozeman; one brother, Conrad Rasmussen, and wife, Joann, of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery with a luncheon following at Community of Christ Church.
Memorials may be offered to Community of Christ Church, 140 W. Kanesville Blvd.
