Vesta F. Griffith

Vesta F. Griffith, 92, of Council Bluffs died March 20 at Bethany Lutheran Home.

She was born May 25, 1910, in Hot Springs, S.D., to Theodore M. and Mae H. (Morgan) Laymon. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1946. She was a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha. She was a member of Sherwood Community Church and Service League. She was a longtime volunteer for many causes.

Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William O. Griffith, and a son, William.

Survivors include daughters, Kathleen Griffith and Christine Wiskus and husband, Jim, all of Council Bluffs; son, Patrick, and wife, Phyllis, of Council Bluffs; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Community Church with a luncheon to follow at the church. Private burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society and Sherwood Community Church.
