The funeral for Lynn David Wenstrand, 79, of Council Bluffs will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell Knauss of Grace Presbyterian Church officiating.
Mr. Wenstrand died March 21 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.
He was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Shenandoah to David Wenstrand and Abba Edwardson. He graduated from Omaha University and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a mechanical engineer for AT&T for 35 years, retiring in 1989. Prior to that, he worked for Northern Natural Gas.
Mr. Wenstrand was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club and past president of American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was the board president of VODEC, a Boy Scout leader and an elder of Grace Presbyterian Church. He also served on the finance board for Lakeshore Country Club.
Mr. Wenstrand and his wife, Catherine "Katie," were married 53 years.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Peggy Horder, and husband, Bob, of Omaha; a son, Allan, and wife, Susan, of Bellevue, Neb.; two grandchildren, Kim and Andy Wenstrand.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 2. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Memorials may be offered to VODEC, care homes and ASTRA Scholarship.
