Joyce Elizabeth Grubb, 91, of Council Bluffs died March 10 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

She was born May 22, 1911, in Lincoln, Neb., to Alva and Bessie Grubb.

She graduated in 1929 from Abraham Lincoln High School, and in 1934 from Peru State College. She later completed master's degrees at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Drake University. She taught school in Diller, Neb., Lorimor, Pacific Junction, Underwood and Council Bluffs schools, retiring in 1976 after many years at Thomas Jefferson High School.

Until very recently, she had been an active member of Broadway Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years and was involved with United Methodist Women. She was also a member of AAUW, Altrusa, Alpha Delta Kappa, Pottawattamie County Historical Society, Community Education Advisory Council, Iowa Retired Teacher's Association, and Council Bluffs' Retired Teacher's Association. She was selected for membership in the Abraham Lincoln Hall of Fame in 1987.

Ms. Grubb was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronald. No close relatives survive her.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Broadway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marvin Arnpriester officiating. Burial of ashes will be in Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln at a later date. Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be offered to Broadway United Methodist Church, 11 South 1st St., Council Bluffs.
