In Memory: Darrell M. Fahrenkrog

The funeral for Darrell M. Fahrenkrog, 75, of Woodbine was held Friday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Woodbine with the Rev. Shurmaine McAlpine and Rev. Paul Strittmatter officiating.

Mr. Fahrenkrog died November 12 at Osceola, Missouri, while on a bus tour. He was born May 17, 1926, on a farm near Persia to Monroe and Mary (Gerratt) Fahrenkrog. He attended school in Persia where he participated in several sports. The couple farmed his family farm until they retired in 1997 and moved into Woodbine. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Woodbine where he was on the board of trustees.

Mr. Fahrenkrog was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean (Whitmore), on August 24, 2000.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn (Thomsen); one daughter, Vicki Mytty, of Fremont, Nebraska; one sister, Judy Hartman, and husband, Rueben, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; one brother, Donald, of Iowa City; two grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held at the church in Woodbine with a prayer service at 7:30. Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.
