In Memory: Frieda D. Leaders

Frieda Dorothea Leaders, 86, died Friday, November 17 at the IHS of Council Bluffs South.

She was born on March 2, 1914 in rural Minden, one of three children in the family of Nocolai and Emma Stender Gregerson.

Frieda attended the Joy Hill Country School in Harrison County, just north of Minden.

On June 18, 1950, Frieda married Orin Leaders. They farmed in the Minden area and were the parents of one son, Maynard.

Frieda loved gardening and one of her favorite pastimes was sewing. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Minden and belonged to its Women's Fellowship organization. She was also a member` of the Friendly Links Women's Social Club.

Orin died in 1988. Frieda remained on the farm for about a year after Orin's death, then moved to the Avoca Nursing and Rehear Center in Avoca for about two years before moving to IHS of Council Bluffs South.

Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Orin and her brother Albert. Survivors include her son, Maynard Leaders and his wife Linda of Minden; her grandson, Thomas Leaders of Minden; her sister, Pearl Peterson of Council Bluffs; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation with the family was held Monday evening at the Minden United Church of Christ. Funeral ceremonies were held at the church Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor David Borden officiating. Interment was in the Minden Cemetery.
