Fred E. Eatherton III

Fred E. Eatherton III, 54, of Council Bluffs died Feb. 16 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

He was born April 27, 1948, in Council Bluffs to Fred E. Eatherton Jr. and Virginia Tracy. He was a 1966 graduate of St. Albert High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was assistant trailer foreman for Werner Enterprises for the past 14 1/2 years. He was a member of Queen of Apostles Church and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Clubs. He was an avid bowler and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include his wife, Aileen (Cool); two daughters, Ashley and Marybeth, both of Council Bluffs; one son, Justin, of Council Bluffs; mother, Virginia Eatherton, of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Ann Eatherton of Council Bluffs and Mary Troge and husband, Steve, of Green Bay, Wis.; nieces and nephews; brother and sister-in-laws.

A Christian wake service will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Queen of the Apostles Church with the Rev. Dan Kirby officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 2.

Memorials may be offered to Children Scholarship Fund.
