In Memory: Esther L. Mattox

Funeral for Esther L. Mattox, 90, of Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center was held Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at Knutson Funeral Home in Avoca with the Rev. Craig ZumBrunnen officiating.

Mrs. Mattox died Oct. 6 at the nursing home. She was born south of Minden. She previously lived in the Minden and Shelby area, moving to the Avoca nursing home in 1993. She was a graduate of Minden High School and attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught county school south of Minden. She was a member of Shelby Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star and Past Matron.

Mrs. Mattox was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin (Bus), on Jan. 3, 1994.

Visitation was held with an Eastern Star Service at the funeral home. Burial was in Shelby Cemetery.
