OAKLAND - The funeral for Russell Raymond Strong, 63, of Carson will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Carson United Methodist Church in Carson.
Mr. Strong died Feb. 4 at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland.
He was born Oct. 30, 1939, in Council Bluffs to Raymond W. and Bernice Ruth (Jensen) Strong. He was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca. He attended school in Avoca, graduating with the class of 1958. After graduating, he worked for the Avoca Creamery for several years. He and his wife moved to Council Bluffs where he started working for Safeway Foods in the meat department. In 1971 they moved to Carson. He worked for Bag-N-Save from 1983 until 1999, when he went to work for Wal-Mart.
Mr. Strong and his wife, Nancy (Grobe), were married Jan. 16, 1960, at the Simpson College Chapel in Indianola.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one daughter, Ruth Husz, and husband, Alan, of Carson; one son, Charles Strong, and wife, Stephanie, of Carson; three grandchildren, Crystal Husz, Christopher Husz and Jacob Strong, all of Carson; his sister, Victorine Jensen, and her husband, Bob, of Avoca.
Visitation with the family will be Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
