John Priest Carlile of Underwood dies. He lived in Pottawattamie County for eighty-one years. Was native of England.

John P. Carlile, 85, retired farmer and resident of this county for eighty-one years, died early Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Sewing, route No. 5, Neola. Death was due to age. He had been ill four and one half months. Mr. Carlile was a native of England and was a member of the RLDS Church. Surviving him are four sons, Myron Carlile of California, Amos Carlile of Manning and E.A. and David Carlile of Underwood; four daughters Mrs. Bertha Darrington of Boomer township, Mrs. Iona Damitz of Underwood, Mrs. Eulalia Sewing of Neola and Mrs. Edna Klopping of Underwood, two brothers Joshua Carlile of Underwood and Isaac Carlile of Lamoni, two sisters Mrs. Martha Scott of Council Bluffs and Mrs., Jennie Scott of McClelland, twenty grandchildren and one great grandchild. Cutler's funeral home is in charge. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Latter Day Saints church at Underwood following short services at the residence at 10:30 a.m. Elder John A. Hansen will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Hill cemetery.
