Howard Thomsen 1904-1947
Last rites for Howard A. Thomsen, 42, were held at the Congregational Church her Sunday, February 2, with the Rev. G.B. Baumann of Minden in charge of the services. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery in Council Bluffs.
Mr. Thomsen died on Thursday January 30 following a long illness with a heart ailment. He was born a son of the late Thomas Thomsen and his wife Emma Kaven in Minden on September 23, 1904.
He graduated from the Avoca high school and on October 24, 1928 he was united in marriage to Edna Walker of Avoca. After their marriage they first lived in Shelby from where they moved to Avoca and then to Malvern. About three years ago they returned to Avoca where they have made their home since that time.
Survivors are his widow; a daughter, Carole Lee; a son, Thomas; his mother, Mrs. Emma Thomsen; a brother, Lester; and two sisters Mrs. Blanch Hough of Sioux City and Mrs. Lulu Johnsen of Council Bluffs.
Mr. Thomsen was employed by his brother Lester, driving a gasoline truck, until failing health forced him to retire. He had a wide circle of friends in this community.
