Avoca---Funeral services will be held at 9 am Wednesday at St. Mary’s church at Avoca for George F. Leslie, 56, who died at his home in Avoca Monday. He had been in poor health 14 years, bedfast a year and a half. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

George was born in Knox township near Avoca May 12, 1892, the son of Felix and Katherine Leslie. He was married to Mary Tierney of Walnut in 1919. They farmed in the Avoca community until October 1947 when he bought a home and moved to Avoca.

Survivors are his widow, two sons, James of Avoca and George Leslie of Chicago’ and three brothers, Charles of Avoca, Dan of Harlan and Edward Leslie of South Gate, California
