Rites Set for Saturday
A life-long resident of the Minden vicinity, Chris J. Thies, 53, died Tuesday at a Council Bluffs hospital following a two week illness.
He was a member of the Minden Congregational church, the American Legion post of Minden, the Pottawattamie county Last Man’s club, and the Eagle’s lodge of Council Bluffs.
A veteran of World War I, he served 16 months with the sixty third coast artillery.
Survivors include a son, Ned of Minden; a brother, Charles of Minden; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Siebels of Minden, Mrs. Betty Green of Avoca, and Mrs. Alma Hamann of Omaha. His wife preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 pm at the Tyler-Rusch chapel in Councill Bluffs with the Rev. G. Baumann of Minden officiating. Burial will be in Minden.
