Carol J. SUHR passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Heritage House in Atlantic, IA having attained the age of 68 years, nine months, and six days.
Funeral sevices were held on Saturday August 2 at the Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut, IA with Rev. Gail Muckey officiating. Burial was in Layton Township Cemetery in Walnut. Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca, IA was in charge of arrangements.
Those serving as casket bearers for the service were Troy SUHR, Colton SUHR, Scott SUHR, Shane SUHR, Aaron SUHR and Trent SUHR.
Carol J. SUHR, daughter of Archie and Wilma (LORENZEN) GUMBERT, was born on October 23, 1939 in Walnut.
She was baptized at Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut and graduated from Walnut High School in 1957. After high school she moved to Washington, DC and was employed by the FBI for two years.
On July 22, 1961 Carol was united in marriage to James SUHR at Peace United Church of Christ. Two sons were born to this union, Bradley and Rodney.
After her marriage she worked for 19 years in Avoca at the Avoca State Bank as a bank teller.
She is preceded in death by her parents her husband, James, and her sister Janice PAULSON.
She is survived by her sons Bradley SUHR and his wife Tracy of Anita, IA and Rodney SUHR of Dunlap, IA; four grandchildren, Kristi, Shane, Colton and Aaron; her brothers Terry GUMBERT and his wife Mary Ellen of Omaha, NE; other family members and friends.Avoca, IA "Journal-Herald" 7 August 2008, p.4
