MRS. (EDITH) ELOISE HAZEN VOORMAN 1884-(?)
Death of a Former Avoca Lady

Last week word was sent to Avoca announcing the death of Eloise Hazen Voorman, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John t. Hazen of this city at her home in Walnut on Wednesday, November 17, after a week of illness with Spanish Flu. The funeral services were held at her late home on Thursday, November 28 and the remains brought to Avoca and laid to rest in the Avoca cemetery.

Edit Eloise Hazen bas born at Avoca, Iowa, Monday, June 23, 1884. She grew to womanhood in our midst and had a host of friends here. She was married to f. M. Voorman April 15, 1916. After her marriage they lived at Irwin for a short time and a little over a year ago moved to Walnut. Up until the time of her marriage Miss Hazen lived with her parents and was a great comfort and help to them. In her death the loss is a severe blow to Mr. and Mrs. Hazen as well as her husband. She was always cheerful and loving daughter and a faithful wife. Rev. Davenport conducted the burial services at the grave. The Rebeka and I.O.O.F lodges of Walnut and Avoca each sent beautiful floral tributes; also many friends.

Mrs. Eloise Hazen Voorman leaves to mourn her loss beside her husband and parents; Mr. and Mrs. John T. Hazen of Avoca; two sisters: Mrs. Alix Irvine of New York; Mrs. McComb of Grand Island and two brothers: Attorney Roy Hazen of Winner, South Dakota and Paul Hazen, who is with the American army in France and a large circle of friends. The community extends deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
