Mrs. George Sarvis Funeral Was In Avoca On Wednesday

Mrs. George Sarvis, 83, died at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan Monday morning, February 18, 1974. Funeral services were held at the Berthusen-Knutson Funeral Home at 2 pm on Wednesday. The Rev Harold Peterson was in charge of the funeral service and burial at Graceland Cemetery in Avoca.

Mrs. Sarvis had been a patient at the hospital for a week following a stroke.

Anna Marie Gustafsen, the daughter of Maren Andersen and Carl Gustafsen, was born on a farm in Shelby county November 4, 1890. She was married to George Sarvis on October 26, 1919. Her husband died in Santa Monica, California on October 20, 1950. She had kept house for her brother, Chris Gustafsen, since May of 1951.
She was also preceded death by three sisters, Esther Nelson, Lena Wiese, and Emma Sorensen and one brother, Daniel Gustafsen.

She is survived by three brothers, Fred Gustafsen of Santa Monica, California; Carl Gustafsen of Council Bluffs and Chris Gustafsen of Avoca. Four sisters, Stena Christensen of Atlantic, Sarah Jacobsen of Nebraska City, NE, Lille Burgin of Council Bluffs and Elva Peters of Avoca and many nieces and nephews. A step-daughter Lettie Dunlevy and four step grandchildren, Tim Dunlevy, Lettie Lue Ross, John Dunlevy II and Mary Dunlevy and three step great grandchildren, Peter, Katherine and Daniel Ross also survive.
