Richard B. Perrin (1931-2008)

Richard Boyd Perrin, age 77, of O'Fallon, Ill., peacefully made his way to heaven surrounded by his children in his home Monday, October 20, 2008.

Richard was born in Sioux City, Iowa on July 26, 1931. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Richard served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from AT&T after 28 years of service. Richard and Barbara were joined in marriage on Dec. 1, 1956, and together raised six children. He was a 55-year member of American Legion Post #2 in Council Bluffs, member of the O'Fallon Knights of Columbus 4239 and the O'Fallon Sportsman Club.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara (nee Fischer) Perrin; his daughter, Susan Spencer; and his parents, Boyd and Winifred (nee Dumkriger) Perrin.

He is survived by his children, Scott (Kelley) Perrin of Olathe, Kan., Jean True of O'Fallon, Ill., Jennifer (Robert) Magrath of Troy, Ill., Joseph (Pam) Perrin of Swansea, Ill., Nanette (Hank Barnett) Perrin of Olathe, Kan; and son-in-law, Donald Spencer of Kansas City, Kan.; grandchildren, Kyle and Katie Spencer, Zach and Kole Perrin, Michelle and Scott (Tiffany) True, Nathaniel, Nicholas, and Abigail Magrath, Kyle Dent, and Kassandra Sue Barnett; great-grandchildren, Lexa Nash and Kaelyn True; and sister, Constance Turner of Sun City, Ariz.

Visitation, friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2008, and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008, at St. Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill. The KC will conduct a walk-through Wednesday evening at church. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2008, at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1411 Cross Street, O'Fallon, Ill. Graveside Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa, with Rev. Mike Berner officiating. Military rites tendered by American Legion Post #2. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Club. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice, 9890 Clayton Rd., St. Louis, MO 63124 or St. Clare Catholic Church, 1411 Cross Street, O'Fallon, IL 62269.
